White Wedding Tuxedo?

white-tuxIs a white tux a good choice for a groom?

The short answer is “why not?” – just like in bridal fashions, fashion rules for grooms have considerably relaxed over the past few years, allowing grooms more freedom of choice than ever before when it comes to choosing the perfect tux.

While a white tux is a relatively bold choice, it does have the advantage of being unique and making you stand out in a crowd of black tuxedos.

A white tux is especially appropriate in the summer, and especially if you have a nice tan! A white tuxedo looks absolutely marvelous on tall, dark grooms because it creates a nice contrast to their natural coloring.

Remember that a white tuxedo will make you look visually bigger, so it’s a great choice if you’re light weight and would like to appear heavier, but not such a great choice if you’re slightly heavy to begin with.

You can pair your white tux with a crisp white shirt and a black tie, or you can experiment with different colors. Pastel ties look very elegant with a white tuxedo, or go with red if you want to look extra bold.

Colorful Wedding Dresses

We’ve already explained that pure white is not your only option when it comes to bridal gowns. There are many shades you can choose from, including off-white, ivory and creme.

But what about a colorful wedding dress? Is that acceptable?

The short answer: YES. We are fortunate to be living at a time where many rigid fashion rules have become relaxed, and this applies not just to fashion in general (no white after labor day is so passe!) but also to bridal fashion.

The dress photographed above is the perfect example of a colorful, tasteful wedding dress. It is by Anya Bridal, who offer wedding dresses in Atlanta. Their Sarah wedding gown, a strapless a-line chiffon gown, has a red wrap sash detail at the natural waist and an elegant chapel train. It is fabulous, modern and bold – while still being super elegant and very appropriate.

In fact, despite the bold red sash, this wedding dress is very romantic and far less defiant than choosing an allover red wedding dress, which some brides do, and while we wouldn’t completely rule out a red wedding gown, it does requires a brave, daring bride!

If you go with a colorful bridal gown, do remember to adjust your accessories and makeup accordingly. They may need to be more subtle than if you went with a neutral-colored wedding dress.

How to Lose Weight Before the Wedding

hungry_brideIt’s only natural that you would want to look your best on your wedding day, and for some brides, this means losing weight.

When it comes to losing weight for your wedding, the best advice we could give you is to do it slowly and gradually.

Losing weight too quickly is not only unhealthy – it can also cause you to feel weak and tired on your big day, and can have the unwanted side effects of making your skin sallow and your hair lackluster.

Aim to lose no more than one pound each week to maintain your energy and your healthy glow, and be realistic! You don’t have to be stick thin on your wedding day. Just aim to lose a little bit to improve your overall appearance and the fit of your wedding dress.

For example, if you need to lose 30 pounds, you should start your weight loss program at least eight months before the wedding. If you only have a couple of months until the wedding, forget about losing all the weight and focus on losing about 10 pounds – enough to make a real difference but not so much that you would have to go on an unhealthy crash diet to make it happen.
