Bridal Shoe Tips: Part Two

So we said in our last post that bridal shoes should be comfortable, and that heel height should be reasonable. Here are a few more tips for selecting your wedding shoes:

Wedding Shoes Materials

Although silk and satin are the traditional choice when it comes to bridal shoes, rules are not at all rigid, and you can go with whatever feels right to you. Leather is a fine choice, and if you happened to fall in love with a suede shoe, that’s fine too.

Bridal Shoes Colors

Again, tradition calls for white, but these days you have many more options. Lots of brides go with metallic shoes like the gold colored shoes in the photo above. Gold, silver, and bronze are all fine choices when it comes to wedding shoes.

Are Chunky Heels OK?

Absolutely. Just like any other choice, the style of your heels is very personal. I personally only wear chunky heels because they feel more stable and I really can’t manage stilettos very well. So I opted for chunky heels on my wedding day. If you prefer a thinner heel, that’s fine too! The most important thing is that you feel comfortable on your wedding day and feel that your wedding dress and your bridal shoes reflect your personal style and not some fashion dictation.

Tips for Finding the Perfect Wedding Shoes: Part One

You probably want everything to be just perfect on your wedding day (although we already said here that the more you can lower your expectations, the less pressure you will experience and the more relaxed you will be!) and this includes your bridal shoes. So, what should you look for when it comes to finding that perfect pair of shoes for your wedding? Here are a few tips.

Bridal Shoes Should Be Comfortable

While comfort is probably the last thing on your mind when it comes to your bridal shoes, you should remember that you will probably spend many hours on your feet on your wedding day, and if you like to dace, you will probably dance too. Shoes that are too tight, have a very high heel or are otherwise uncomfortable will be pure torture, and if this isn’t convincing, then keep in mind that no one can look beautiful when they’re in pain! Try to strike a balance between “gorgeous” and “comfortable,” and if in doubt, err on the side of comfort.

Heel Height

Most brides opt for heels, but please do yourself a favor and don’t go with killer heels. A moderate 3-inch heel is best, and if you’re not used to high heels, it makes a lot of sense to wear them around the house before the wedding so that you can get used to them. If you want a higher heel, try to choose a wedge heel or a platform shoe – the platform will take some of the edge off. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with wearing flats – ballet flats can look beautiful with a wedding dress.

Please stay tuned for our next post, where we will offer more bridal shoe tips.
