Off White Bridal Gowns

Filed under: Uncategorized — by Wedding Expert @ 7:00 am

Off white wedding dresses are often worn by second-time brides who feel that pure white is just not appropriate for them.

This certainly makes sense, but today I’d like to make a case for wearing off white to a first-time wedding, simply because the color complements your skin tone better than pure white would.

Pure white looks great on cool skin tones with pink undertones. But if your skin’s undertones are yellow rather than pink, you need to wear a warmer shade. Pure white may be the traditional choice, but it can make you look really tired and pale! This is obviously the last thing you want on your wedding day.

Off white, or ivory, is a warm color that can look great on the right skin tone. The best way to know which color suits you best is simply to try it on! Ideally, if you can see yourself in daylight (stand next to the window if you can’t go outside wearing the dress), this is the best way to find out if you should go with a pure white wedding gown or with an off white dress.

one of my favorite off white wedding gowns is the Charlotte style by Anya Bridal, an Atlanta wedding dresses store:

Tips for Avoiding New Bride Weight Gain: Part One

Filed under: Bridal Weight Loss, Uncategorized — by Wedding Expert @ 7:00 am

In our last post, we discussed the phenomenon of the new bride weight gain and saw that in many ways, it seems almost inevitable for a new bride to gain at least a few pounds after tying the knot.

However, unless you were severely underweight on your wedding day (and we certainly hope that wasn’t the case), there’s certainly no reason to gain 20 pounds during the first year after getting married!

Here are a few tips for avoiding the notorious new bride weight gain:

Don’t starve yourself before the wedding.

If you go on an extremely strict diet before your wedding, you WILL end up gaining it all back, simply because this is how our bodies work – when we starve them, they have a way of fighting back, hanging onto every calorie, slowing their metabolism down and causing us to experience serious food cravings. Instead of going on a crash diet before your wedding, if you need to lose weight, go on a sensible diet – don’t try to lose more than 1-2 pounds per week.

Try to avoid the state of mind that says “I’m married now, I don’t have to work so hard anymore to look good.”

Remember that you need to eat healthfully and exercise for YOU, because a healthy lifestyle and a healthy weight will make you feel good, have more energy and possibly even live longer. When you eat well and exercise, you’re not doing it for others – you’re doing it for yourself, and so your marital status has nothing to do with it.

Wedding Favors Etiquette

wedding_favorsWedding favors are the bride’s and groom’s way of expressing their gratitude to their guests for joining their special day.

Many of your guests are going through a lot of trouble – and expense – to attend your wedding. Pick a wedding favor that truly shows you appreciate their efforts.

A few wedding favors etiquette tips:

1. Set a budget for your wedding favors and try to stick with it. Just like any other component of your wedding, there’s no limit to how much you can spend on wedding favors. However, you should make it a priority to find a balance between the “perfect” wedding favors and the reality of your budget.

2. Provide a wedding favor for each guest. One per couple is generally considered inappropriate. It is always a good idea to order a few extra wedding favors.

3. Since the wedding favor should be appropriate for all the guests, choose a unisex wedding favor - one that both sexes will like. Choosing a gender-specific wedding favor means that about half of your guests won’t be able to enjoy their gift.

The most important tip: choose a wedding favor that you would be happy to receive . If you follow this basic rule, chances are your guests will love their wedding favors.
